Role Overview

We seek a strategic and highly motivated Human Resources Director, reporting to the President, to join our team. The Human Resource Director will be responsible for the development and oversight of all Human Resource initiatives for the company. The Human Resources Director oversees and optimizes every aspect of the employee experience, including hiring, training, professional development, and performance management to ensure these efforts support the company's vision and growth. The Human Resources Director serves as the company's culture advocate and brand builder, helping to attract, develop and retain top talent.

The start date for this position is December 5, 2022.

Of 175 Reckner employees, 65% of our employees work remotely. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of how to deploy HR initiatives in a remote environment and will have the ability to determine what tools and processes are integral for successful remote work across all departments and divisions.

Primary Role Functions

  • Act as a trusted people advisor to the President and Senior Leadership Team to develop and execute people initiatives that effectively communicate and support Reckner's mission, vision, and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage and coach one full time Payroll and Benefits Coordinator and one part time HR Coordinator/Recruiter.
  • Create employee engagement strategies to promote a high-performance culture where employees thrive.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership team and hiring managers to create strategic recruiting and retention plans, including recruitment and effective on-boarding plans.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to deploy HR initiatives in a remote environment to determine what tools and processes are integral for successful remote work across all departments and divisions.
  • Develop an inclusive, diverse, and equitable work environment.
  • Create, institute and enforce all employee policies, adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Provide direction to Managers on laws that impact the company such as EEO, Worker's Compensation, FLSA, OSHA, ADA, FMLA, ACA and other federal, state, or local regulations
  • Drive all HR-related procedures such as promotions and leave management; coordinates with managers to ensure compliance with company guidelines and processes.
  • Oversee compensation practices and philosophy.
  • Oversee administration of benefits plans and the 401k plan.
  • Counsel, coach and guide managers and staff in addressing concerns and employee performance issues.
  • Manage the HR System (NetSuite).
  • Oversee creation and maintenance of employee personnel files in the HR System.
  • Optimize the use of analytics and data to manage talent; set and track metrics such as DEI initiatives and turnover.
  • Maintain company handbook.
  • Organize and initiate team building activities and company celebrations.
  • Develop and oversee effective training programs.
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions.
  • Oversee the performance review/performance documentation process.

Background, Skill Set and Orientation

Bachelor's degree required

A minimum of 5 years' experience in progressively responsible people leadership roles in the following areas:

  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, workforce planning, change management, organizational design, talent management, performance management, employee relations, and HR systems implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability collaborating with senior level leadership to develop, implement and sustain people and culture programs that enable the achievement of business strategic goals.
  • Excellent consultative, leadership, interpersonal/influencing skills, including the ability to build rapport, coach and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem solving, facilitation and analytical skills and technical skills.
  • Experience with Payroll processing and with tax implications related to payroll.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in Market Research a plus.
