Role Overview
The Senior Research Manager will have primary responsibility for managing client relationships and the research process. This individual will play a strategic role in the client organization and will provide guidance beyond the scope of a single project by applying their expertise. This individual will be well-versed in both Qualitative and Quantitative research design and execution, moderation skills and experience are a plus.
The Senior Research Manager should be a research expert with a minimum of 10 years of experience in research either supplier or client-side. This team member must have the ability to identify opportunities and to inspire the client's trust and confidence when discussing research methods, marketing and/or business strategy with a diverse group of individuals ranging from research managers to C-level executives.

Primary Role Objectives:
- Use research expertise and acumen to cultivate client relationship to facilitate revenue growth primarily through project acquisition within client relationships.
Primary Role Functions:
- Client facing relationship and revenue generator
- Partner with senior staff to implement overall division business development strategy and tactics
Role Specifics:
- Client Management:
- Develop consultative relationships with client organization (beyond research buyer)
- Provide guidance beyond the scope of a single project
- Bring past experience and learnings into consultative discussions
- Proposal development:
- Lead client calls, consult on brand, product, marketing, advertising or corporate strategy. Develop willing proposals to address client's business needs and research objectives.
- Methodology development:
- Oversee and aid in the development of all research materials to ensure quality, including but not limited to screeners, questionnaires, and discussion guides.
- Either conduct qualitative research moderation or oversee project moderators to ensure research objectives are being met.
- Develop proprietary techniques that can extend beyond current capabilities.
- Project Direction:
- Work with operations or facility/platform provider to set up project, oversee recruit, take care of logistical needs for the project
- Report-writing/Presentation:
- Synthesize and create meaning from complex qualitative and/or quantitative data
- Develop reports independently with concise executive summaries that include big picture findings and strong recommendations
- Confidently and credibly present findings to large client teams
Skill Set, Background and Orientation:
- Significant client-facing role.
- The ideal team member will have strong relationship-building skills coupled with a strong marketing research/sensory research background.
- Ten+ years of experience in marketing research/sensory research.
- Custom marketing/sensory research experience on the vendor or client side.
- Basic understanding of business and marketing processes and of marketing research methods (both qualitative and quantitative); ability to apply this understanding to individual client situations.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Flexible and self-directed; comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Must have background and experience in consumer packaged goods (food and beverage, household products, in particular). Experience in other industries helpful.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, M.S. or Ph.D.) a plus.
